Thankful, #8

What in the world am I suppose to be thankful for today? I have waaay too many things to be thankful for... I think if I said them all we'd be here forever, and ever, and ever... etc :D
You know what, that'll be my thankful today. I am thankful that God blesses us over and above all that we ever could or would deserve.

"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not."
     ~ Lamentations 3:22

"Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!"
     ~ Psalm107:8

"Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."
     ~ Jeremiah 33:2-3

"And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen."
     ~ John 21:25

Thankful, #7

Okay, it's been a while. Sorry again :)

So... today, I'm thankful for music - in specific, good music. I love music! Music touches the heart. Did you know, your body can tell that music is playing, even if you can't hear it? Also, I've heard that the stars make music... whether you believe that or not, I do!

"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork."
     ~ Psalm 19:1

"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"
     ~ Ephesians 5:19

"Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works."
     ~ Psalm 105:2

"And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;"
     ~ Revelation 5:9

Thankful, #5

(apologies for my lack of diligence, and for my many apologies :D)

I am so grateful that God is infinite.
That conference I mentioned in my last post was at Cary Schmidt's (author of Life Quest, Just Friends, and other books) church. During one of his messages, he mentioned that humanism would tell you that you "should be the best you you can be." He also mentioned how people are trying to climb to the top of "their" mountain. And I thought, you know what? When you climb to the top of yourself, there is nowhere left to go except down. But with God... Yes, God is infinite. There is always "up" with God.

"Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite."
     ~ Psalm 147:5

"Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen."
     ~ 1 Timothy 1:17

"To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen."
     ~ Jude 25

Thankful, #3

I am thankful for beauty and nature. Fall, as it turns out, is one of my favorite seasons (Spring is my other favorite season, and I can never decide between the two :D). One of my favorite things about fall is the way the sun shines through the multi-colored leaves... Sometimes it feels a little silly to just say that I am thankful for beauty. But beauty reminds me of who God is. To me, it reveals some of His characteristics - like love and purity.

"And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good..."
     ~ Genesis 1:31

"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handywork."
     ~ Psalm 19:1

"One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple."
     ~ Psalm 27:4

Thankful, #2

(I apologize for my blog's appearance... technical difficulties :D)

I am so thankful for the Bible. It is so many things - it is truth; it is God's letter to us; it is the final authority; it is our only offensive weapon; it is the Word of God. As truth, it is our light. As God's letter to us, I am reminded of all He's done and am thankful. As the final authority, it keeps us grounded in the truth. As our only offensive weapon, we can use it to attack the devil. And as the Word of God... well, read this verse:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
     ~ John 1:1

     Here's a few more verses:

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
     ~ Psalm 119:105

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction in righteousness:"
     ~ 2 Timothy 3:16

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:"
     ~ Ephesians 6: 17
