Books, Books, Books!

"Alone Yet Not Alone" by Tracey Leninger Craven ~ This book is one of my favorites! It's based on a true story, too. There's a family living in Pennsylvania in the 1700s. One day, Indians come and burn down their house. The sisters, Barbara and Regina are captured. They are able to mantain a trust in God, especially through a favorite hymn. (By the way, there's a movie coming out for this book... the thing is, I can't find out anything about it!)

"Through Gates of Splendor" by Elisabeth Elliot ~ This is the true story of the five missionaries - Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Pete Flemming, Ed McCully, and Roger Youderian, and their wives - to Ecuador. It's really an awesome book that shows how God can work!

"So Much More" by Anna Sofia & Elizabeth Botkin ~ This book is for girls who desire to live a God-honoring life. The authors are sisters, and wrote the book when they were 17 and 15 years old. They talk a lot of a girl's relationship with her father and about just being feminine young ladies, rather than going with whatever the world has to offer.

"The Captive" by Christoph Von Schmid ~ A boy, about 16 years of age, and his best friend are captured by pirates and sold as slaves in Africa. One of the boys escape, but the other one becomes a slave to a Muslim whose son is a radical. Through trial, the boy is able to win the Muslim family to Christ... and is reunited with his friend and family.
